Theramenes sent two of the 30 ascines and aristotle s to sparta to request that lysander send them a garrison. He agreed and arranged for 700 troops to be sent back with them. When they arrived in athens, the spartan soldiers were installed atop the acropolis. Their commander was the harmost calybius. And the 30 fawned over him and every way and won his loyalty with bribes so that he would not oppose any of the steps that they wished to take.
