CHAPTER

The War of the Austrian Succession

In 1730s the emperor Charles VI had no male heir. He only had a daughter, Maria Theresa, who had been born in 1717. This threatened a possible succession crisis because various different realms might refuse to recognize her as legitimate successor. Prussia invaded and seized Cylicia which led to an eight year long war called the War of the Austrian Succession. And Maria Theresa eventually agreed to make peace with Prussia by ceding them Cylicia in return for Prussia recognizing her right to rule all the rest of the Habsburg domains.
