The Three Part Traditional Class Structure in Jiu-Jitsu

A third of the class is some sort of calisthenic warm up where basically you're doing jumping jacks and stuff like that. Then you get to the technique, which comes down to about 20, 30 minutes of what I've heard described as dead drilling. And then the last third of theclass is the part that everyone actually often wants to do, which is the free rolling. But none of them really consciously serve the purpose of skill development.
