The Importance of Long-Term Incentives in Government
When they think about how much money they're going to be robbing you that's really what government is for whether it's monarchy or democracy. In a system of democracy in which we're constantly changing rulers every few years these rulers realize that when we're in power we only have those say three years or five years or ten years where i can take resources and secure my family and secure my wealth but because it's only three four five years you know you are massively incentivized to try and take as much as you can for the present with little regard for the consequences 100 years from now or 20 years from now even on the other hand if you're a monarch if you're thinking about taking
