I think what they were trying to do was to inspire empathy. That was the purpose. It wasn't actually a, the goal was if people feel bad enough about racism, then maybe they will fix it. But there's always a segment of the population that just kind of sees empathy as dangerous. And so we've learned to tell them these stories don't, doesn't work if people are determined not to be empathetic. They'll find a reason not to feel the feeling because they realized that feeling is the entryway into changing.
