The Slave Trade and Yellow Fever
Both the virus and its mosquito host were brought over during, yeah, during the slave trade. The mosquito would breed in small pockets of water aboard ships; the virus circulated in the blood of slaves that were brought over. And this is a common thread that we've seen: European invasion, Native Americans died, which Europeans viewed as their workforce dying.
