Arminius told faris that a revolt had broken out northwest of the main roman camp, and that it would be best to go in with a show of force. The army was cut in half and suffered heavy losses. Attempts made to storm the fortified wall the germans had erected, but to no avail. After being forced into the marshland they were themselves annihilated.
