The Gift of Life

Ernie was diagnosed with terminal cancer after a surgery where they'd injected some dye into his body had gone really wrong. He only had three x-wives who is still incredible friends with all of them somehow. Over the course of next two weeks Ernie knocked on my door every afternoon and we had a chat for about an hour two hours. I remember standing at his funeral probably two or three months later And thinking that every day is a gift tomorrow is an absolute privilege. If you have that attitude of gratitude and the appreciation for the fact that you have air in your lungs and a heartbeat today You have more than most will have at some point.
