The Importance of Training the Audience to Applaud
I was asked to do stand-up at the French football and rugby awards. I had five minutes basically to write jokes in front of this audience who are mainly all rugby players or football players. It's like, you know, when you're preparing something, like a new joke or some material in your mind, you're like, pause for laughter. And we're controlling the audience when, how, when they laugh, training them to applaud you. But that is actually good. At least they did applaud when you went to the beer.
