A Brief History of Rama's Philosophy
Rama's plan of offering a full curriculum in such a brief time has plausibly been traced to his humble origins as an orphan from the peasant class. By contrast, the humanist Juan Luis Vírez recommended eight years just to learn Latin and Greek, with a further ten for the arts. Rames' methods were tailored to make the acquisition of the liberal arts more feasible. He was inspired by an underestimated factor in generating intellectual innovation, petty academic infighting.
