The Effect of Rain on Test Cricket
Andy Zoltzmann, the Test Match Special Scorer, crunched the numbers since 1980. Approximately one in eight games played in England in Asher series have lost a day's worth of cricket and ended in a draw. So it's pretty much 50, 50 in a five match series that you will see a rain-affected draw. You can have reserved days. That's the only really viable sort of method of trying to shift that. But I also I quite enjoyed Andrew McDonald's point as well, which is everybody's assuming that England were going to win that chance. We're only 60 behind.
