The Limits of Envy

The problem with this type of thinking is that it's crass, and it's kind of materially reductionistic. There are only so many goods in the world, they're scarce, and insofar as somebody else has one of them, that's one fewer that I myself can accumulate. So there's a kind of a limited thinking that goes on with envy where you're not actually disposed to or open to the prospect that another's good is in fact good. We have to grapple with it, we have to be honest with ourselves if we're dealing with it, but then we have to progress beyond it by God's grace and our cooperationthere with who am I?
