The Fallacy of a Humanities Education
Why would anyone get an education in reading poetry? Because in the real world, that will make no difference to most people's lives. America is becoming a nation of utilitarian, we just want to job that's it. And I think that's the argument that's convincing students not to go into the humanities. But it is worth pointing out that it's a pretty fallacious argument.
