Decompensated Cirrhosis: Acute on Chronic Liver Failure
The patient has cirrhosis, acute on chronic liver failure. This is an important concept that even in my short period of time as a hepatologist has been argued about. It doesn't mean you just get admitted with the CIT or SVP, you have worsened to jaundice. And we've got about half a penny flip chance of getting out of the hospital when you come in with acute on-cronic liver failure.
