Vaccines for Coronaviruses

Fauci recently authored a paper titled rethinking next generation vaccines for coronaviruses influenza viruses and other respiratory viruses. In the paper he says flu vaccines have never been able to elicit durable protective immunity against seasonal influenza virus strains. He goes on to say their effectiveness against clinically apparent infection is decidedly suboptimal ranging from 14 percent to 60 percent over the past influenza seasons. As of 2022 after more than 60 years of experience with influenza vaccines very little improvement in vaccine prevention or infection has been noted as pointed out decades ago, still true today.
