The reputation of eunuchs for a ruthlessness that knew no bounds gained some momentum. Sometimes things got so bad and so out of control with the eunuch hold on power, that these monicers would come into being to describe the group of the most powerful eunuchs enduring emperor ling's time. These were the ten, or actually 12, of the euncers closest to emperor ling, the most famous of which was chang rang. It had been emperor juan who let the eunuts in the back door to help him sweep away the corrupt and reckless lianci and his family.
