Roosevelt Dealing With Race Relations
Roosevelt at this time is dealing with rebellions on the West Coast from Republicans who want to limit the immigration of Asians. Down in the South, when he wants to run for election in 1904, he's very wary that he won't win the nomination. He gets their votes by effectively looking beyond race or ignoring race as a question and winning those white Republican delegates. The Native American situation is interesting in a lot of ways too because he does the same thing as he does with African American communities in some cases.
