Allergies Are a Symptom of an Unbalanced Immune System
For 99% of human history, we've been Paleolithic hunter-gatherers living out in the wild and exposed to a lot more microbes than we are today. And now the number of microbes has dropped down and our immune system is kind of imbalanced. We kind of jumps on our own tissues at times, hungry for targets. So allergy is a symptom of an imbalance that may be evolutionary. It may be that we're kind of not caught up with our lifestyle, our hygienic environment. This is what's called a hygiene hypothesis.
