Evolution of Server Hardware in Data Centers

This chapter discusses the evolution of server hardware in data centers, from using inexpensive consumer-grade components to accommodating hardware limitations through software. It explores the use of corkboards and bread racks as insulation solutions for motherboards, as well as dealing with cheap DRAM with errors. The chapter also covers the challenges of handling Byzantine DRAM and the transition from Velcro to other solutions for holding hard drives in place.
