Commando outfit was put ashore in what's now Libya to attack Rommel's headquarters. It turned out that the building they thought was Rommel's HQ was a store room. Jeffrey Keys got a VC for this, which actually makes one wonder slightly about VCs. Cripey story is much more tragic, of course, than Rommel.
