Matthew turner: It's easier for us to observe rules as individuals when everyoner, everyone else is doing soan indeed, the impact of any of us taking personal responsibilityis pretty limited if we're the only one. Professor bloomfield: We live in a society where there are huge cultural and religious things that we do with our lives. And within a community, there is huge pressure on people to continue those social rituals because they mark our place in society. But it seems to me, y your answer, professor brinfile, confirms for me that trying to draw a clear distinction between personal and collective responsibility is pretty futile.
