The Composition of Matter
Most chemists would describe glass as an amorphous solid. Atoms are just all sort of higgledy, higher here and there but they are stuck in place so they are not moving. You can compress or expand gases so that you move the molecules or atoms closer together or further apart. That's what happens with solids or liquids. But we'll talk a bit more about composition of matter later.
