The US has so much dollar-denominated debt, that almost provides a floor to a certain extent for its strength. When you look at other countries and you're maybe dealing with a developed nation, they have to have something tangible as a reserve in order to defend the strength of the currency. The key distinction there is if they're actively trying to control that currency to a peg or even if it's a partial peg or something. So, the US has been in a pretty happy position where it's just been able to sterilize those huge debts and deficits because the demand, you know, they're off-shore demand for those dollars.
