When to Order CT Scans in the Emergency Department
Dr. Cielle: I find myself wondering why CT scans are being ordered so much for MSK injuries from our emergency department. Dr. Chata just outlined a few of the injuries that we should consider it in. For sure, if you're worried about a hip fracture and the x-rays negative, actually look at the hip really carefully. You can have a purely ligamentous, unstable operative list Frank. If you're worried enough, you know what they need is a back slab and follow up.
