Optimizing for Wide Screen Sizes
The viewport is the bit of the browser window that you can have the web page in. And if you haven't got a full screen web browser, then it can be smaller than your screen size. But I've seen the increase in the height of the viewport is down to people moving. They've got 60 pixels more. That's exactly the same amount that you gain by using Chrome instead of Firefox. So as web developers, we've gained 60 pixels thanks to Google and Chrome in the viewport.
