Maintaining National Identity and Cultural Continuity

What is the nature of national identity? Can you replace the pieces that make up a nation but maintain the same identity? As the West wrestles with its crisis of meaning it becomes more and more important to understand who we are and what defines us. We'll be using the Ship of Theseus, a classic philosophical thought experiment, to investigate these questions.
