Bitcoin and Crypto's Energy Consumption

The Bitcoin network is currently handling about 100 million transactions a year. China took action to completely ban cryptocurrency mining from their country in the spring of 2021. The European Union almost banned Bitcoin trading in the EU a few months ago. White House just released a report that also recommended, consider potentially eliminating cryptocurrency mining.
