The Long-standing Conflicts between Settlers and Plains Indians in Texas

This chapter discusses the conflicts between settlers in Texas, Mexico, and the southern plains Indians during the 19th century. It explores how the conflict initially started between the plains Indians and the Spanish, and how the Anglo-American settlers continued to clash with the plains Indians during the Texas colonial period. The conflicts persisted even after Texas gained independence from Mexico, and they finally came to an end when the last pre-brand plains Indians surrendered and moved to the Fort Sill Reservation in Oklahoma.
