Operation Mints Meat
Operation Mints Meat was conceived in January 1943 by two young officers assigned to Section 17 M of British Intelligence. The idea was to convince the Axis powers that the Allies were planning to invade Greece in the summer of 1943 rather than Sicily. To convince the Abwehr, they needed a believable method for passing fake classified information to Germany. They decided to deploy a cadaver off the coast of Spain so that it could be discovered by Spanish authorities. The cadaver would appear to be a military courier traveling with sensitive documents. But to pull off such an operation, they would first need to find a suitable corpse. No easy task even in the middle of a world war.
