Names are really, really important often in Lovecraft. The name Ward is very meaningful for Lovecraft because of the case of Charles Dexter Ward. Though Lavine on the other hand, I think they're pulling from Shakespeare here. And anyone who's familiar with Titus Andronicus is going to start worrying immediately when they hear that the daughter's character name is Lavine.
