The most damning and compelling take away is that facebook is not just some neutral public square where people are acting like people. And the effect of those decisions, whether intentional or not, is often to amplify the worst parts of human nature. The hogging documents are not really well timed here for the industry, because it is good that facebook has started down this path but they have not gone there yet. There's a lot more quantitative social science pcts doing research on face books negative effects than in probably the rest of the industry combined.
