The Event Horizon Is a Peanut Shape
The event horizon is not always spherical. In the transition between two bk holes and one black hole, that results in a weird sort of peanut shape. People do numerical relativity calculations to figure out exactly what the shape of the event horizon is. And you can find these images on line, if you want to look for the video.
