Andrei Kneen: The typical scenario for the development of white depression is "the loss of the object in the presence of the object" In this case it could be not only the mother but any of the infant's primary caregivers. But let us now imagine a father who is so preoccupied with his own issues that he has little emotional engagement to offer his child.
