The Tavistock Institute
Tavistock Institute was founded after the war to use social science for social benefits. In 1949, National Mining Board introduced technologies in British mines. They invested a stupid amount of money and productivity did not grow. So they sent some of our stuff in the mines. And it happens and one of X-minor was doing his postdoc or his master students at the Tavistock. He discovered that when people form self-organizing groups, so as listening to client, given experience of flexibility, people will find their optimum way to organize themselves. Almost 30% more productive. Why? Because this way of work eliminates stoppages or results from what is called made work.
