The development of modern sexuality is non-linear sudden jolts forward backward or laterally into entirely different sexual norms seem to be the rule so was chitty writing during an end of normal neoliberal moment but now perhaps a decade or so after he wrote those lines. i think that's one way of thinking about what he might have thought about this moment right now at the same time.
