Is the Web a Market of Lemons?
The web has to deliver value, not for just the businesses that make the websites or the people who get paid to make the websites. The whole point of the exercise is to be delivering a web that is effective and competitive as a counterbalance to closed, owned and operated ecosystems. There's no reason to have a synthetic event system in your JavaScript library in 2023. You don't need it. But there's stuff like Misko which helps teams get sort of swept up in a low quality ecosystem where they can't differentiate from others.
