The Voice of God to Moses From Within the Bush
In the Hebrew imagination, a name was so much more than just a collection of syllables by which a person was called. Israel had forgotten God's name, meaning they forgot what God is like. So when God reveals something familiar about his character, it sounds like the familiar score of a film that comes underneath the climactic scene of the sequel. The narrator moves closer from distant respect to upfront intimacy, but Moses stays back at a safe, distant respect.
