The republican party has been better at being able to shape its own civic, nationalist account in a way that hits the broader spectrum of where white voters are. And by comparison, i think the main stream democratic party is really unsure. I mean, i think it's been deeply destabilized by the rise of trump and by the fact that,. you know, a large segment of the voting basis is african american.
