Giga is a prefix used in the international system of metric units, meaning a billion of something. The first gig o factory was the one announced by tesla and its ceo, elan musk, in nevada. It has become a prefix that shs become cool for lots of other factories as well. Tech has a way of expanding the horizons of what's possible, so the language to describe it all has to keep up.
