In relationships where one person earns much more than the other, lower earning partner is often obsessed with contribution. In our culture, if it can't be quantified, it doesn't have value. Mary: I was so blessed growing up with so many people teaching me how to be good with money. And I want to help impart that onto West. He's struggling to define his role in the relationship if he's not a provider. The higher earner can reassure the other person that their work is valuable. But the lower earner is often convinced that their work isn't seen as valuable even if their partner tells them it is.
