Green's Achilles Heel
Green had a brief but publicly documented membership of the party while an undergraduate at Oxford. He did not like the idea of a simply binary cold war with the Americans faced off with the Russians or NATO in confrontation with the Warsaw Pact. When Green resurrected his friendship with Filby in the late 1980s he was welcomed with open arms by none other than the wife of the Soviet leader, Raisa Gorbachev.
