The Negative Effects of Research Feedback on Artificial Intelligence
What you need for this AI recursive self-improvement thing to produce a singularity is that you need positive research feedback as it will have done. A paper that came out just last year, I think, or no, two years ago now, called our ideas getting harder to find does this sort of estimation. It finds that wherever you look, these research feedback numbers are substantially negative. And we have no idea what these effects will be once we have AI that is as smart as human AI researcher and it's flexible.
