I've had the, I suppose it's narcissism, but every, anytime I go to a university, you know, that's not my own, I just check to see if my books are first of all in their library. And if so, have they been checked out? And so when you find out, nobody's checked out that book for seven years or something like that,. In a way, the motivation for writing is already weakened simply because there's this recognition that writing is what's passing away. What's lasting is the experience of being with other people and the relationships and so forth. You start to see your books as not as these great creations that you put so much time
