Is the US Military the Bad Thing Prevention Force?

The international coalition has airlifted out more than 42,000 people in the last week or eight days. I don't see how you would extend that logic to us still being in Vietnam in 1975. Harmad Karzai was handpicked in 2001 for an interim government wins an election in 2004 and then serves two terms. Despite the fact that Taliban tried to assassinate him a number of times, Karzai was quite openly trying to court them the whole way.
