John the Baptist - Is the Messiah Coming?

John the Baptist is very much presenting in a way that rings true with first century Judaism and what we know about other figures at that time. There's this great expectation that soon the Messiah is going to be coming because even the prophet Daniel talked about four kingdoms that would rule over Israel. And so during the time of the fourth beast as Daniel describes it or fourth kingdom, that's the time the Messiah is supposed to come. So there's this heightened expectation and hope.
