The Australian Church's Tax Law Changes
In 2000, Australia changed its tax law so that if you donated to a religion, it wasn't necessary going to become tax deductible anymore. Because tithing paid by church into churches is not tax deductible, the church sends most of its worldwide cash donations to LDS charities through an Australian entity called LDS Charities Australia. These charitable donations are then mixed with tithing from Australian members and it makes the process makes Australian tithing looks like it's a small part of a global humanitarian charity effort.
