The Longitudinality of Software Development
If you have many people constantly trying to run the program in diffrent environments, that will encourage it to become persistent. So one of my favorite examples is esculite. If you use asculite to write even yoursemi data form mat, if you write it into esculie data base, you're absolutely goig o be able to read that in 30 years. But if you roll your own format on desk, there's a very good chance that it will at some point become totlly lost. And so this makes it a first class concern.
