The Importance of Lament in Worship
I've spent a lot of my time worshiping in what would be described as charismatic evangelical churches. There's a really important place for kind of praise and for kind of kind of hopeful joyfulness in worship but it is when you look at the Psalms which are effectively the kind of the song book of the people of Israel that kind of give voice to to the emotions that god people are thinking, I'm struggling to think of even maybe one or two contemporary popular worship songs which express similar themes. It just seems wrong that that our corporate worship isn't able to encapsulate this this the experience that which many people are going through," he says.
