The Rise of the Tibetan Improvement Party
In the early 20th century, Tibet becomes a metropole. Lhasa itself asserts political control over the region. The Chinese communist revolution ends in October of 1949 with Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party coming out on top. By October 7th of 1950, the People's Republic of China formally did invade the Chambo region of Tibet - scurrying a very swift victory. After this victory, there was a lot of pressure on the Dalai Lama to sign something called the 17-point agreement on May 23rd of 1951. And he signs it despite the protests from many of his subjects, as well as like the Tibetan cabinet.
