What's a Storm Surge?
Storm surge is how the storm pushes water out from the ocean on to the coast. On a beach, it means the tides are much, much higherand that contributes to flooding. How much of these waters higher from one side to the other depends on how big and intense the hurricane is. So there's actually a tongue going on there that affects the power of the storm. It's still hard to make good forecast of the storm but we know what makes them powerful.
